Motherlode is a free fan-made tool for Star Citizen players. We didn't make Star Citizen and we're not Cloud Imperium Games. Don't be a jerk to other players in shared sessions and orgs, don't try to break the site, and understand that aUEC, ore, and everything else in here is fictional — none of it is real money and we're not liable for what happens in-game or out of it. The API and OAuth apps are free to use within the rate limits, and you're responsible for what you build with them. Use it at your own risk, it's provided as-is, and we can change or shut things down if we need to.
Motherlode is a community project built and maintained by Cryon Dynamics. It's a set of tools — work order calculators, refinery timers, price references, session boards, and so on — for people who play Star Citizen. It is not made, endorsed, or reviewed by Cloud Imperium Games or Roberts Space Industries. Star Citizen, its ore names, ship names, and everything else game-related belongs to them, not us. We built this because Regolith was shutting down and the community needed something to replace it, not because we have any official relationship with CIG.
Nothing in this app has real-world value. aUEC, SCU, ore quality scores, session earnings — none of it converts to real currency, and we don't facilitate any kind of real-money transaction for in-game goods. If you see numbers on a leaderboard, they're bragging rights, not assets.
You can sign in with Discord or create an account with email and password, or use a session as an anonymous guest without creating an account at all. If you do create an account, you're responsible for whatever happens under it — keep your login to yourself and don't share access with randoms. One person, one account. We reserve the right to disable an account that's being used to abuse the service, harass other players, or feed garbage data into shared tools like the price tables.
A lot of Motherlode is shared space — mining sessions, org stockpiles, leaderboards, public scouting data. When you join someone's session or org, you're trusting them and they're trusting you. We don't referee disputes over split earnings, who owed who a cut, or who mismanaged a stockpile — that's between your crew. What we will step in on is abuse of the platform itself: spamming fake work orders, vandalizing shared data, or using session/org tools to harass people.
We offer a free public API for reference data (prices, ships, ores, and similar game data) and an OAuth flow so you can build apps that connect to a user's Motherlode account with their permission. Both are subject to the same don't-abuse-it rules as the rest of the site, plus a rate limit — currently 60 requests per minute per API key — that we can adjust without notice if it's needed to keep the service up for everyone.
If you register an OAuth app, you're responsible for how it behaves: only request the scopes your app actually needs, describe it accurately on the consent screen users see, don't misrepresent your app as being made or endorsed by Motherlode or Cryon Dynamics, and respect it when a user revokes access — once a grant is revoked, stop using whatever data you'd pulled under it. We can revoke an API key or OAuth app's access at any time if it's abusing the service, misusing granted data, or breaking these terms, with or without warning depending on severity.
When you, as a user, authorize a third-party app through Motherlode's OAuth flow, that's you granting that app the specific access shown on the consent screen — we're not responsible for what that app does with your data afterward, only for what we hand it and for letting you revoke access whenever you want from your Connected Apps page.
Ore prices, refinery yields, and similar reference numbers are maintained by hand by our team and the community, not pulled live from any official source. They will occasionally be wrong or out of date — we flag anything older than a week, and there's a report button if you spot bad data, but we can't promise the numbers are always current. Don't make real financial decisions based on fictional space credits. (We probably didn't need to write that sentence, but here we are.) The same applies to the same data served through the public API.
This is a free hobby-adjacent project, not an enterprise product with an SLA. It's provided as-is, with no guarantee it'll be available, bug-free, or accurate at any given moment. Refinery timers can drift, real-time sync can hiccup, and screenshots occasionally get misread by the OCR model. We're not liable for lost session data, mistimed refinery collections, disputes over profit splits, or anything else that comes from relying on Motherlode for something important. Back up anything you can't afford to lose, and don't build your fleet's entire economy around a free community tool never promising five nines of uptime.
We can add, change, or remove features at any time, and — because Star Citizen is still in development and this app tracks a live game — sometimes those changes happen fast to keep up with a patch. If we ever have to shut the whole thing down, we'll try to give the community a heads up on Discord first, the same way Regolith gave us one.
If we update these terms in a way that matters, we'll note it in the changelog and bump the date at the top of this page. Continuing to use Motherlode after that means you're fine with the update. If you're not, stop using it and let us know why on Discord — we do actually read that channel.
Questions, complaints, data requests, or "hey this is broken" — the fastest way to reach us is the Motherlode Discord.
