Star Citizen · Mining & salvage ops
Looking for a
Regolith alternative?
Regolith.rocks carried the Star Citizen mining community for years, and its shutdown left a real gap. Motherlode was built to fill it — a free, community-run hub for mining and salvage ops. Here is what is in it.
Free · Discord, Google, or email sign-in · Unofficial fan project
Sessions & crew
A session is a shared ops board for one run. Everything logged during it stays in sync for everyone on it.
Rocks, work orders, and refinery timers update in real time for every member of the session — add something from your phone mid-run and the rest of the crew sees it.
Six characters, no ambiguous letters, easy to read out over comms or paste into Discord. Guests can join without making an account.
Track who is on the run and what they are flying, with owner, operator, crew, and guest roles.
Settle up at the end — equal, role-weighted, or custom cuts. Produces a payout sheet you can drop straight into your org channel.
Work orders & refinery timers
The part you open mid-run. Mining and salvage work orders both live here.
Each line takes its own quantity and quality, so a mixed order is recorded the way the refinery actually sees it rather than averaged into one number.
Refined output, processing fee, and estimated aUEC recalculate as you type, across every refinery method.
Every order runs its own countdown to completion, visible to the whole session.
Opt into notifications and get pinged when a batch finishes, instead of remembering to check back.
Salvage runs the same flow as mining, with its own materials and its own earnings tracked separately.
Prices & reference data
Open in the browser, no account, nothing to install.
Community-maintained prices per terminal, with a stale flag on anything that has aged past a week so you know how much to trust a number.
Every ore, gem, and salvage material — rarity, value, quality tiers, and where it can be refined.
All refinery methods side by side: yield, time, fee multiplier, and which stations carry a location bonus.
Bodies, belts, and the rock types that show up at each, with composition ranges.
Full specs for mining heads, modules, and consumables, plus mining-capable ships.
Salvage materials and ship hull values for working out whether a wreck is worth the time.
Calculators
The math you would otherwise be doing in a spreadsheet on your second monitor.
Pick a ship, slot lasers and modules, and see the resulting charge window, extraction rate, and how the stack handles resistance and instability. Save loadouts to your account.
Put in a rock's resistance and instability, get back how much charge headroom you have before it fractures on you.
Input costs, component yields, and whether a build is actually worth making before you commit the materials.
Organizations
For orgs that mine together and need somewhere shared to put it all.
Create an org, invite members or handle join requests, and set a primary org that tags your name in sessions.
Member, stockpile manager, and admin, so the people running logistics have the access they need and nobody else does.
One pooled record of what the org is holding, instead of five people guessing in a Discord thread.
Members request a deposit or withdrawal and a stockpile manager approves it, so the numbers only move when someone signs off.
Aggregate stats for the org, separate from individual rankings.
Your account
What follows you between runs.
Track what you are personally holding and where, and push a stack over to an org stockpile in a couple of clicks.
Your history across sessions — what you pulled, where, and what it earned.
See which third-party apps you have granted access to, and revoke any of them whenever you want.
Discord, or email. Or run a session as an anonymous guest and claim it later.
API & developer access
Free, documented, and open to anyone who wants to build on top of it.
Commodities, market prices, locations, rock types, refineries, terminals, mining lasers, modules, gadgets, and ships — all available as JSON, no auth needed.
Ask a user for permission and read their profile, org memberships, and inventory through /api/v1/me. Scoped, and revocable by them at any time.
A full OpenAPI reference at /developers, and a 60-requests-per-minute limit that is generous enough for anything reasonable.
Getting started
About a minute from a cold start to a session your crew can join.
- 01Sign in
Discord, Google, or email. You can also run a session as an anonymous guest and claim it later.
- 02Start a session
Name the run and pick your location. That session is the shared board for everything that follows.
- 03Bring your crew
Share the six-character join code in Discord or over comms. Everyone lands on the same board.
- 04Log rocks and work orders
Add a scouted rock with its composition, then carry it into a refinery work order. Timers start on their own.
- 05Settle up
End the session and split the take — equal, role-weighted, or custom. You get a payout sheet to paste into your org channel.
Questions
What is Motherlode?
Motherlode is a free, community-built operations hub for Star Citizen mining and salvage. It covers refinery work orders and timers, community-maintained commodity prices, game reference data, mining calculators, org stockpiles, and real-time sessions your whole crew shares.
Why was Motherlode built?
Regolith.rocks was the tool a lot of the mining community relied on, and when it shut down that left a gap. Motherlode was built to fill it so people had somewhere to keep tracking their runs.
Is Motherlode affiliated with Regolith?
No. Motherlode is an independent project by Cryon Dynamics with no connection to Regolith.rocks or the people who built it. We have a lot of respect for what they made and for how long they kept it running for the community.
Does Motherlode cost anything?
No. It is free. The calculators, price tables, and reference data work without an account at all. You only sign in if you want sessions, crew sync, saved history, org tools, and refinery alerts.
Can I import my data from Regolith?
There is no automated import. Motherlode starts you with a clean slate, though the reference data — ores, refineries, methods, lasers, modules, ships — is already seeded, so there is nothing to set up before your first run.
Does it handle salvage as well as mining?
Yes. Salvage work orders, salvage materials, and ship hull values sit alongside the mining tools, and session earnings track mining and salvage separately.
What can organizations do?
An org gets a member roster with member, stockpile manager, and admin roles, a shared stockpile, deposit and withdrawal requests that a manager approves before anything moves, and an org leaderboard. Setting a primary org also tags your name in sessions.
Is there an API?
Yes, and it is free. Reference data — commodities, prices, locations, rock types, refineries, terminals, lasers, modules, gadgets, ships — is available as JSON with no auth. There is also an OAuth flow so your app can read a signed-in user's profile, orgs, and inventory with their permission. Full reference at /developers.
Is Motherlode affiliated with Cloud Imperium Games?
No. Motherlode is an unofficial fan project. It is not made, endorsed, or reviewed by Cloud Imperium Games or Roberts Space Industries.
